The AB41 proved very capable in a scouting role as its top speed of 45mph allowed to keep out of trouble. For those occasions where it need to extricate itself from sticky situations, its 20mm Breda automatic cannon was backed up by a co-axial 8mm machine gun, and other similar machine gun facing rearwards in the hull. It was a complex vehicle with four wheel drive, having both a front and rear driving positions to help it get out of trouble quickly.
